The government has approved the immediate construction of a second gas processing plant to enhance energy security and bridge supply shortfalls, according to Energy and Green Transition Minister John Jinapor.
Speaking at a post-cabinet briefing at Jubilee House, he explained that this decision is part of a broader strategy to stabilize the energy sector over the short, medium, and long term.
The project, to be executed in collaboration with the Finance Ministry, aims to secure the domestic energy supply while countering public concerns over intermittent power outages.
Jinapor dismissed calls for a formal load-shedding timetable, emphasizing that Ghana is not shedding load and even exports approximately 300 megawatts of electricity to neighboring countries, such as Burkina Faso and Benin.
This initiative underscores Ghana’s commitment to strengthening its domestic energy infrastructure amid global market fluctuations.
