Govt engaging US for possible tariff exemption – Sampson Ahi

Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Sampson Ahi, has reassured Ghanaian exporters. The government is addressing the impact of new US tariffs.

In an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Ahi discussed this issue. He mentioned a White House statement about US President's openness to negotiations. So far, 44 countries have requested engagement.

Ahi said, “We want to explore the opportunity given to countries.” He emphasized the government's commitment to finding solutions.

He also reassured exporters to the US market that their concerns are taken seriously. Efforts are underway to mitigate challenges from these tariffs.

Ghana is using diplomatic channels to seek exemptions for its exporters. Ahi confirmed that the government is working hard for a favorable outcome. “We want to assure the business community that we are taking this matter seriously,” he stated.
