Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced a policy requiring all state agencies in Ghana to procure designated essential goods from local producers.
Speaking to the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), he stressed the need for a strong industrial base, warning that imports will require presidential approval.
The government will release a list of mandatory local procurement items while intensifying anti-smuggling efforts to protect local businesses.
AGI President Dr. Humphrey Ayim-Darke welcomed the move, praising the administration’s commitment to economic growth.
The initiative aligns with the government’s 24-hour economy strategy to boost domestic production and job creation.
