A pressure group called the New Voters Forum is urging the government to cancel its contract with Ghana Link Network Services Limited. This company operates the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) under the Ghana Revenue Authority.
At a press briefing, the group's convenor, Conqueror Mawudzo Korto, raised serious concerns about ICUMS. He described the platform as unreliable and ineffective. Mr. Korto argued that these inefficiencies hurt Ghana’s competitiveness as a logistics hub in West Africa.
He called for an independent audit of the contract between the Ministry of Trade and Ghana Link. He emphasized that transparency and accountability are crucial for trade infrastructure.
Mr. Korto also warned that a "corrupt model" could threaten Ghana's economic future if not addressed.
The group is urging civil society organizations, industry stakeholders, media, and Parliament to intervene. They want to prevent potential economic losses and protect national interests.
