Nana Amoasi VII, Executive Director of the Institute of Energy Studies (IES), has called for a thorough investigation into the failed Power Distribution Services (PDS) concession deal, which he believes had the potential to address critical inefficiencies in Ghana’s electricity distribution.

Speaking on TV3’s NewDay program on November 19, 2024, he stressed the need to understand why the deal, which aimed to manage ECG operations, collapsed due to lack of transparency and interference.

Amoasi highlighted the 17% technical losses at ECG and warned that without addressing distribution inefficiencies, Ghana would continue facing financial and operational losses.

He advocated for long-term investments, transparent contracts, and collaboration with donors and the private sector to improve the sector’s reliability.
