The Institute of Energy Security (IES) supports merging the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) with the Energy Commission of Ghana.
This proposal aims to streamline regulatory functions, cut operational costs, and reduce oversight overlaps in the energy sector.
IES Executive Director Nana Amoasi IV emphasized that a unified regulatory body would enhance policy formulation and implementation, addressing current challenges in Ghana's energy landscape.
He noted that most regional power sectors operate under a single regulator, suggesting that this approach could improve decision-making and efficiency in Ghana's energy regulation.
