The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has called on the United States to address trade tensions to avoid further economic slowdown.
This follows the imposition of export tariffs ranging from 10 to 50 percent on Ghana and over 180 countries by U.S. President Donald Trump on April 2.
The tariffs were enacted citing a national emergency related to foreign trade practices.
Kristalina Georgieva, IMF Managing Director, expressed concern, warning that this move could negatively impact the global economy, which is already experiencing sluggish growth.
Georgieva urged the U.S. and its trading partners to work together to resolve these issues and reduce uncertainty.
The IMF will release its evaluation and findings during its World Economic Outlook in its upcoming Spring Meetings with the World Bank.
