Ignore ‘bitter’ Dr Kwakye; BoG monetary policy has yielded results – Financial Analyst

Dr. Michael Dawson, a financial analyst, has criticized Dr. John Kwakye, Director of Research at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), for his negative remarks about the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

Dr. Dawson expressed disappointment with Dr. Kwakye’s recent comments labeling the BoG’s monetary policy rate as a failure, accusing him of unfairness and mischief.

He highlighted Dr. Kwakye’s background as a former BoG staff member and member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), stating that his criticisms disregard the MPC’s achievements, including reducing inflation from 54.1% to 22.1% over the past year.

Dr. Dawson defended BoG’s forex market interventions and praised its role in stabilizing the cedi and improving the economy.

He called for public support for the BoG’s efforts and accused Dr. Kwakye of harboring bitterness since leaving the MPC. Dr. Dawson commended the BoG for its contributions to economic stability.
