Charles Owusu, an independent parliamentary candidate for Nkoranza North, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to retain the betting tax introduced under the Akufo-Addo administration.
While Mahama pledged to abolish the betting tax during his campaign, Owusu strongly opposes its removal and suggests increasing the rate from 10% to 60%.
He supports removing the electronic transaction tax (E-Levy) but insists the betting tax should remain to contribute to national development.
