In partnership with Cas Broker Company Ltd, the Joint Association of Port Transport Unions (JAPTU) has launched an AI-powered NFC Driver Card to enhance cargo security, streamline logistics, and boost government revenue through improved compliance with GRA-Customs regulations.
Initiated in March last year, the solution integrates with the Driver & Vehicle Management System to verify truck drivers and cargo handlers, addressing issues such as cargo diversion and unauthorized truck movements.
Utilizing AI analytics, the system detects route deviations and prevents fraudulent activities. JAPTU, established in 2002 in collaboration with the Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority and the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, is seeking government and industry support for full-scale implementation.
The initiative benefits various stakeholders by ensuring secure port access, improved customs clearance, and effective risk management across the transport sector.
