Fifty-two startups advanced to the Agritech Challenge Pro stage. Each received US$2,000 in traction funding. This funding helps them develop their agribusiness concepts.
After the first pitch event, 44 startups were selected for the next stage.
Business Validation Trips were organized to assess how startups used this support. The trips checked their progress, operations, customer engagement, and partnerships.
The KIC team visited various regions and engaged with founders and stakeholders. Ato Ulzen-Appiah, an Entrepreneurship Development Specialist at KIC, stated that these visits ensure support for valuable startups. He noted that it is a chance to witness innovation and commitment at the grassroots level.
Startups showcased tech-enabled farming solutions and sustainable processing methods. They demonstrated product development, customer acquisition, and improved service delivery using the funding.
Kamil Nabong, Portfolio Manager at KIC, highlighted the importance of these trips. He said they help understand challenges while celebrating creativity and resilience among startups.
As the Agritech Pro Challenge moves into its final phase, insights from these visits will guide future support. KIC aims to invest in realistic solutions that can scale impact across Ghana’s agricultural value chain.
The Grand Finale for the KIC Pro Challenge is scheduled for May in Kumasi.
