Kantamanto fire: Sprinter Benjamin Azamati donates GH¢10k to victims

Ghanaian sprinter and 100m record holder Benjamin Azamati has donated GH₵10,000 to victims of the January 1, 2025, fire at Kantamanto Market in Accra, which destroyed properties, affected hundreds, and left 14 seriously injured.

Azamati expressed his solidarity in a heartfelt statement, emphasizing the importance of uplifting others during challenging times. "True greatness lies in using our blessings to uplift others," he said, dedicating the donation as his birthday wish for the affected families.

Kantamanto market manager Adutwum Atta Manu thanked Azamati, calling the fire "extraordinary" in its devastation and highlighting the impact of his support.

Other sports personalities are encouraged to extend aid. President John Dramani Mahama has also directed tighter security measures around markets to prevent similar incidents.
