MOH launches digital portal for admission to health training institutions

Mr. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Minister of Health, has launched a new digital admissions portal. This portal is for health training institutions. It simplifies the application process and lowers costs for students.

Previously, applicants had to buy access codes from banks. This often required long travel and extra expenses, especially for rural residents. Mr. Akandoh noted that this process could cost between GH¢50 to 100 just to deposit GH¢200.

Now, applicants can access the portal after making an online payment of GH¢150. This fee is a 25% reduction from last year's fee of GH¢200. After payment, an access code is automatically generated.

The Minister advised applicants to check the eligibility procedure on the portal before paying. This procedure helps them understand what is needed to qualify.

To assist with any difficulties, 24-hour call centers have been set up for applicants. The application period started on May 5 and will end on June 5, 2025.

Mr. Akandoh emphasized convenience: "At home, you pay with a button press." He added that there’s no need to travel for submissions anymore.

He warned against scams where people claim to sell access codes. Such practices are no longer valid with the new system.

After applications close, training institutions will conduct selection processes and interviews. Successful candidates will receive admission letters afterward.

Mr. Akandoh promised ongoing monitoring of the new system for future improvements.
