MTN MobileMoney refutes customer's claim of compromised wallet

MTN MobileMoney has denied a customer's claims about her wallet being compromised. She alleged that unauthorized withdrawals of GHS11,000 occurred from her account.

MobileMoney stated their investigation suggests this was a case of social engineering. The customer unknowingly shared sensitive information with fraudsters.

"We noted a social media post by a customer alleging that MobileMoney compromised her wallet," the company said. However, they found she had shared One-Time Passwords (OTPs) and PINs with the fraudsters.

MobileMoney warned customers not to share sensitive information with anyone. This includes individuals claiming to be from MTN. "Never share your PIN or OTP with anyone," the company cautioned.

The company reassured customers of its commitment to secure transactions. They advised customers to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to MobileMoney LTD.
