President John Dramani Mahama has established a National Emolument Committee to address salary disparities and ensure fair public sector remuneration in Ghana. The independent committee will set wages for all public employees, including the President, to promote consistency and transparency.

Speaking with organized labor on February 20, Mahama stressed his administration’s commitment to resolving longstanding pay discrepancies and streamlining the nation’s wage structure.

He emphasized that the committee’s work would clarify existing confusion and that any proposed pay adjustments would affect everyone, including himself.

Mahama also expressed his readiness to work closely with labor unions to ensure the committee’s success in delivering equitable salaries across all levels of the public service.
