President John Dramani Mahama has assured bondholders that his government will honor all financial obligations, despite Ghana’s economic crisis. Speaking at his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on February 27, 2025, he pledged that bondholders would receive full payments.
He highlighted Ghana’s massive debt burden, including GHS70 billion in the energy sector, which has left agencies struggling.
Mahama also called on the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to actively participate in the upcoming National Economic Dialogue, stressing the need for bipartisan cooperation. He referenced the 2014 Senchi Forum, which the NPP boycotted, urging collaboration to resolve Ghana’s financial crisis.
His “resetting agenda” prioritizes structural reforms, job creation, and economic stability, aiming to restore growth and prosperity.
