Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem has confirmed that President John Mahama is expected to sign the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) repeal bill by Thursday, March 27.
Speaking on PM Express on March 26, Ampem explained that although Parliament has passed the bill, it has yet to be transmitted to the President for his final approval. He assured Ghanaians that once Mahama signs it, the Finance Ministry will immediately direct the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to halt E-Levy collection.
The controversial tax, introduced in 2022 under the NPP administration, imposed a 1.5% levy on electronic transactions. Its repeal has been widely welcomed.
Ampem emphasized that the GRA is prepared for a swift transition, with the policy expected to take full effect before the end of March.
