Mahama names Thomas Nyarko Ampem as deputy Finance Minister-designate

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Thomas Nyarko Ampem, Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, as Deputy Minister-Designate for Finance.

Nyarko Ampem will support the government's economic recovery efforts alongside Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, as Ghana faces high inflation, mounting debt, and fiscal challenges under the $3 billion IMF Extended Credit Facility.

His role will involve stabilizing the foreign exchange market, enhancing revenue mobilization, and implementing key policies like the 24-hour economy initiative to boost productivity and job creation.

The Finance Ministry is under pressure to balance debt sustainability with growth-focused policies while restoring investor confidence and ensuring fiscal discipline.
