Stakeholders in Ghana's maritime industry are urging the government to provide clear policy direction following the appointment of a new Director-General for the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).

The Ship Owners and Agents Association of Ghana (SOAAG) is among the groups seeking clarity to ensure industry alignment with the government's vision.

SOAAG executive member, Mr. Adam Imoru Ayarna, emphasized the maritime sector's crucial role in Ghana's economy, highlighting the need for strategic plans to promote harmony and efficiency among stakeholders. He also called for business-friendly policies to boost growth at the ports.

Regarding the government's proposed 24-hour economy policy, Mr. Ayarna noted that its success would depend on thorough risk assessments and strategic planning. Stakeholders are hopeful for policy clarity to enhance port operations and support economic growth.
