Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has donated $1 million (£786,000) to President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration fund. This marks a shift in the relationship between Mark Zuckerberg and Trump, as the two had previously clashed, especially after Facebook suspended Trump's accounts in 2021 following his comments related to the Capitol attack.
Trump had previously criticized Zuckerberg and Facebook, calling the platform "anti-Trump."
Meta has not made similar donations to Biden’s or Trump’s previous inauguration funds. In contrast to Zuckerberg, tech mogul Elon Musk, who has been a strong supporter of Trump, has become much closer to the former president.
Despite their past tensions, Trump has softened his stance towards Zuckerberg in recent months.
