Abdul-Moomin Gbana, General Secretary of the Mineworkers Union, has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's administration of losing $24 billion to corruption over eight years, citing Imani Ghana's report of $3 billion annual losses.
He called for trade unions to actively expose and protest against corruption, which he says undermines economic growth and steals the nation's future.
Gbana urged the government to pass a revised Labour Act to address workers’ rights violations, job insecurity, and shrinking social protections.
He vowed that the Mineworkers Union would intensify campaigns against corruption and illicit financial flows in 2025, advocating for stronger national accountability and reforms in labor laws.
