The Minister of Health has urged for the swift finalization of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) allocation formula for 2025, which is projected at GH¢9.93 billion. Speaking at a recent conference, the Minister emphasized that timely approval of this allocation is crucial to ensure that the NHIA can adequately fund health services across Ghana in the coming year. The proposed budget aims to enhance healthcare delivery amidst growing demands and rising costs in the sector.
Government officials stressed that accelerating the approval process will allow for improved planning and resource distribution, ultimately benefiting patients relying on these essential services. The Minister highlighted that a well-structured allocation formula is vital not only for sustaining existing health programs but also for expanding access to care, especially in underserved areas. As discussions continue among policymakers, there is a collective call to prioritize healthcare funding as part of broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s health system and meet the needs of its population effectively.
