The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority Caucus has donated GH¢200,000 to support traders affected by the devastating fire at Kantamanto Market on January 2, 2025.

Leading the donation, Minority Leader Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin visited the market on Tuesday and expressed his empathy for the traders impacted by the fire.

He appealed to the government to extend further support, referencing a contingency fund available for such crises. Afenyo-Markin also urged financial institutions that provided loans to traders to consider lowering interest rates, providing much-needed financial relief.

Calling the donation a “modest contribution,” Afenyo-Markin stated, “This is GH¢200,000; it is a modest contribution from us,” emphasizing the Caucus’s commitment to aiding the affected traders as they work to rebuild their businesses following the devastating loss of goods and property.
