Minority Caucus raises alarm over critical security concerns in Ghana -

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority Caucus in Parliament is worried about security issues in Ghana.

They highlighted the mysterious disappearance of 12 containers filled with gold and cash. They also mentioned suspected cocaine trafficking through private jets. Additionally, there was a reported pirate attack on a Ghanaian fishing vessel.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour spoke to the media. He is the MP for Assin South and Ranking Member on the Interior and Defence Committee. He questioned whether the government intended to mislead Ghanaians regarding the missing containers.

He raised concerns about two private jets that landed at Kotoka International Airport in March 2025. These flights, AirMed flight N823AM and Cavok Air, carried suspicious cargo believed to be cocaine and cash. He urged National Security to disclose what these aircraft transported into Ghana.

Rev. Ntim Fordjour also addressed an alleged pirate attack on a fishing vessel named “MENGXIN 1.” This incident reportedly occurred in Ghanaian waters on March 27, 2025. He called for a full investigation into this matter.

The Caucus urged the government to equip the Ghana Navy with Offshore Patrol Vessels. This would help protect Ghana's waters from piracy and other threats.

He emphasized that Ghana's reputation as Africa's second most peaceful country is at risk. The Minority Caucus believes it is crucial for President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership to ensure safety in the country.

Mr. Kofi Amankwa Manu, NPP MP for Akrofuom, echoed these concerns as well. He stated that security issues require collective effort from all parties involved.

He cautioned against politicizing Ghana’s security matters and stressed the need for focused attention on them.
