The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe Esq., has reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to cracking down on illegal fuel trade in Ghana.

He warned that individuals and groups involved in fuel smuggling, selling adulterated fuels, and operating without proper licenses or safety standards would face strict enforcement actions.

Speaking during a meeting with the Bono Regional Security Council (REGSEC) as part of his familiarization tour, Mr. Tamakloe urged regional ministers to refrain from intervening on behalf of illegal fuel traders.

He emphasized that political affiliations should not be used as a shield for unlawful activities, stating, “If you plead on behalf of these criminals who are not playing by the rules at the expense of the reset agenda, who will you call when you buy bad fuel in your car?”

He noted that collaborative efforts between the NPA, National Security, and other agencies had significantly reduced fuel supply leakages, including export dumping. Bono Regional Minister Joseph Addae Akwaboah assured the NPA of REGSEC’s full support in combating fuel-related illegalities.

As part of his three-day tour of the Bono and Ashanti regions, Mr. Tamakloe visited the Bono Regional Coordinating Council and paid a courtesy call to the Omanhene of Sunyani to seek traditional support in addressing fuel supply and export challenges.
