Godwin Edudzi Tameklo is the CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA). He assured businesses in Ghana's petroleum downstream sector of strong regulatory support. This support is available if they follow industry rules and standards.
Mr. Tameklo spoke at the Downstream Compliance Workshop in Accra. He emphasized that compliant companies will receive protection under his leadership. This protection aims to ensure a stable and thriving industry.
However, he warned that businesses breaking regulations will face sanctions. "We will take firm action against non-compliant entities," he stated. This approach is crucial for sustaining growth and integrity in the sector.
The three-day workshop is held at the NPA head office. It brings together key stakeholders from the petroleum downstream value chain. The goal is to strengthen regulatory compliance and improve industry practices.
Monday’s session included Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketing Companies (LPGMCs). Today, Tuesday, May 13, the workshop continues with Bulk Import, Distribution, and Export Companies (BIDECs). Representatives from refineries, depots, and other facilities are also participating.
The event will conclude on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Discussions will focus on the transport sector. This wraps up the NPA’s efforts to foster collaboration and raise standards across the petroleum downstream industry.
