NaSIA, NaCCA warn schools against use of unapproved textbooks

The National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) and the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) have issued a directive.

All pre-tertiary educational institutions must stop using unapproved textbooks and materials.

This directive was signed by Professor Salifu Tahiru Azeko from NaSIA and Prof Yayra Dzakadie from NaCCA.

They observed that some schools were using teaching resources not approved by NaCCA.

Using unapproved materials goes against national education policies. It also undermines the quality of teaching and learning in schools.

Both organizations stressed that all institutions, public and private, must use only NaCCA-approved resources.

These approved materials are developed through rigorous reviews to align with Ghana’s national curriculum standards.

Schools must procure and use only these approved teaching resources.

Heads of institutions are responsible for ensuring compliance with this requirement.

They are encouraged to conduct periodic audits of instructional materials used in their schools.

Parents and guardians should verify if their children’s schools follow this directive.

They can report any non-compliance cases to NaSIA.

The release called for collective vigilance among school authorities, educators, and families. This is essential to maintain the integrity and standard of education in Ghana.
