New COCOBOD CEO pledges prompt payments and transparency

Dr. Ransford Abbey, the newly appointed Acting CEO of COCOBOD, has committed to prioritizing timely cocoa payments and ensuring transparency in the sector.

After his first engagement with cocoa farmers, he emphasized placing farmers at the center of the industry, addressing their longstanding concerns to improve livelihoods and sustain Ghana's leadership in cocoa production.

Dr. Abbey highlighted plans to tackle challenges such as delayed payments and rising production costs. He assured that cocoa payments would take precedence over other expenditures, fostering farmer profitability.

Additionally, he revealed ongoing collaboration with National Security to combat cocoa smuggling. Meetings with security officials have led to the formation of a specialized team to address this issue decisively.
