New Trade Commission boss assumes office, assures of support to local businesses

Mavis Adjei-Kwaa is the new Executive Secretary for the Ghana International Trade Commission (GITC). She promises to promote local industries and support cheaper production rates. Supporting local businesses will be a key priority for her. This aims to ensure fair competition among businesses in Ghana.

Adjei-Kwaa made these commitments after meeting GITC staff on April 15. She stated, “We shall do our best to support our local businesses.” She plans to work with the Minister for Trade and Agribusiness. Together, they will review some taxes to help local businesses compete internationally.

The GITC promotes fair trade practices between local and foreign businesses. Adjei-Kwaa's appointment is a significant step for the Commission since its establishment. Bernad Manu Afreh, Head of Research and Planning at GITC, welcomed her warmly. He assured that they would support government initiatives to transform Ghanaian industries.

The team also gave Mavis Adjei-Kwaa a tour of key policy departments.
