Vish Ashiagbor, Country Senior Partner at PWC Ghana, has emphasized that the success of the government's VAT reform plans will depend on effective implementation.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express Business Edition on March 13, he acknowledged that while the proposed tax measures are well-considered, execution remains the true test.

Ashiagbor noted that Ghana’s VAT system requires a comprehensive overhaul but stressed the need for a phased approach to avoid economic disruptions. He addressed concerns from business leaders regarding delays in reforms, clarifying that the measured rollout is intentional rather than experimental.

While expressing optimism about potential revenue growth from VAT adjustments, he cautioned that achieving projected targets will require significant effort. His remarks underscore the challenge of balancing fiscal responsibility with economic growth, ensuring that tax policies are both well-designed and effectively implemented.
