Operations can resume without tampering with evidence, says Ashanti Regional Minister-designate

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister-designate, has assured that AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) can resume operations at its southern site without compromising ongoing investigations into a recent incident at the mine's northern camp.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, Dr. Amoakohene emphasized the importance of balancing operational continuity with the integrity of the investigative process.

He highlighted that mining activities in unaffected areas are crucial for economic stability and community welfare. The government, he noted, is committed to transparent engagement with stakeholders to restore peace and confidence.

Dr. Amoakohene also addressed concerns about the welfare of those impacted, including an injured military officer, stating that President Mahama has ensured full medical support. The minister stressed the government's dedication to an inclusive process to ensure smooth resumption of operations.
