Two hundred and three senior officers from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) have graduated. They completed their training at the Customs Academy in Kpetoe, Volta Region.
The training lasted about nine months. It covered customs law and paramilitary exercises. These officers will be deployed to various GRA offices.
Their main task is to support operations and help with revenue mobilization. This is crucial for the authority's mission.
Alex Segbefia spoke on behalf of the Vice President. He urged the officers to work diligently for national development. The state relies on them for domestic revenue.
The Vice President also encouraged them to transform the customs division into a model of excellence. She challenged them to lead this change in Africa and beyond.
"The journey ahead will test you," she said. "Your work strengthens our nation’s foundation." She emphasized that self-reliance starts with dedicated public servants.
Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, Commissioner General of GRA, congratulated the graduates. He praised their spirit during training and assured them of government support.
Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan, Commissioner of Customs Division, also congratulated them. He urged them to maintain high integrity as they begin their roles.
He highlighted three essential attributes: discipline, loyalty, and professionalism. Discipline helps execute duties diligently and uphold integrity.
Loyalty fosters dedication to the mission of the Customs Division, he added.
