PIDA midterm review sparks commitment to action in Africa - Ghana Business News

The recent midterm review of the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) has reignited a strong commitment among African nations to enhance infrastructure development across the continent. Held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the event emphasized the urgent need for collaborative efforts to tackle ongoing challenges in transport, energy, and water sectors. Participants highlighted that improved infrastructure is crucial not only for economic growth but also for achieving broader goals such as regional integration and sustainable development.

African Union officials underscored that significant progress has been made since PIDA's launch in 2012; however, much work remains to fully realize its ambitious objectives. The review encouraged member states to prioritize infrastructure projects that will stimulate investment and facilitate trade. It also called for innovative financing solutions and greater public-private partnerships to bridge funding gaps.

As discussions continue, stakeholders expressed optimism that renewed focus on PIDA will lead to tangible improvements in connectivity and resilience across Africa, ultimately contributing to a more integrated and prosperous continent.
