The Central Region office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has assured customers of Ghana Water Limited (GWL) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) that water and power supplies will remain stable during the Yuletide.
Madam Kesewaa Apenteng-Addo, Regional Manager, emphasized that the PURC had taken proactive measures to ensure uninterrupted services, especially after Cape Coast and surrounding areas experienced water shortages.
She confirmed that improvements would begin on December 19, 2024, following discussions with GWL and ECG.
At the PURC's year-end dinner, Madam Apenteng-Addo also reported that 98% of the more than 900 complaints received in 2024 had been resolved. Additionally, over GHS240,000 was returned to customers due to billing errors, and over GHS2 million was recovered from debts owed to ECG and GWL.
Mr. Seth Atipah, GWL's Regional Manager, explained the water shortages were caused by machinery failures at the Brimsu Water Treatment Plant due to power outages, but assured that normal water supply would resume soon.
