Parliament has approved a GHC250,000 allocation for each Member of Parliament under the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to support education-related projects in their constituencies.
Additionally, MPs will receive GHC150,000 to monitor these projects.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on March 29, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh revealed that MPs had pushed for an increase in funds due to the growing educational demands in their constituencies.
He noted that both the GETFund administrator and the Finance Minister agreed to their request.
The decision follows concerns about the financial pressures MPs face regarding education in their constituencies, raising questions about transparency and accountability in the fund's utilization.
