Persons with disabilities benefit from skills training; Fidelity Bank, GIZ partnership kicks off in Ahafo, Bono East regions

The training took place in several communities, including Prang, Yeji, and Atebubu. It combined practical entrepreneurship education with financial literacy. This approach helped participants develop sustainable livelihoods.

Julian Opuni, Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Ghana, spoke about the initiative's impact. He emphasized the bank’s commitment to inclusive development. “This partnership with GIZ shows our belief that all Ghanaians deserve opportunities,” he said. He added that financial literacy is key to transforming lives.

Fidelity Bank played a vital role in the program's success. They funded training materials and provided logistical support. Participants received hands-on training in market positioning and business strategy. They also learned about savings and budgeting, along with inclusive financial products.

At the end of the program, participants received certificates of completion. This marked an important milestone towards their economic self-sufficiency.

Andreas Berding from the Ghanaian European Centre for Jobs highlighted the partnership's importance. He noted it empowers persons with disabilities through skills development. The initiative tailors training to individual needs, enhancing economic independence.

The Short-Term Skills Training Project shows how collaboration fosters socio-economic inclusion. Looking ahead, Fidelity Bank and GIZ plan to scale up the initiative. They aim to include follow-up mentorship programs and extended financial education workshops.
