Police arrest nine Ghanaians, two Burkinabes over illegal mining - Ghana Business News

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested eleven people. They were detained at Fichser near Bunsu for illegal mining, known as "Galamsey."

A police press release from Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr. Foster Owusu announced the arrests. The suspects include nine Ghanaians and two Burkinabes. They were arrested on April 2, 2025, following a formal complaint.

The Ghanaians are Kwaku Owusu (42), Philip Tetteh (52), Abdul Raham (27), Philip Duvor (40), Joseph Asare (32), Charles Manu (35), Joseph Araboga (32), Daniel Bangah (20), and Amoaho Isaac (25). The Burkinabes are Jey Done (40) and Adomah Bouba (25).

The police also recovered one excavator, which has been impounded. All suspects are in custody and will face justice.

The police assured the public that they remain committed to fighting crime. They aim to maintain law and order in the Eastern South region.
