Tweneboah Kodua Fokuo, Member of Parliament for Manso Nkwanta, has called for the government to position Ghana as a global chocolate hub, particularly on Valentine’s Day, to attract international tourists.

Fokuo suggests that Ghana, the world’s second-largest cocoa producer, should shift from exporting raw cocoa beans to producing value-added chocolate products, promoting its ethically sourced, sustainable cocoa.

He recommended investment in local chocolate manufacturing and partnerships with international investors, as well as incorporating local flavors and cultural heritage into packaging.

Fokuo also proposed collaboration between the Tourism Ministry and global organizations to promote Ghana as the “Chocolate Capital of the World,” with events like chocolate tastings and cultural performances, and emphasized the importance of STEM education in building a skilled workforce for the industry.
