President Mahama in Abidjan for African Development Bank annual meetings

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. He is attending the 60th Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the 51st Annual Meeting of the African Development Fund (ADF).

These high-level meetings officially opened today. They are held under the theme: “Making Africa’s Capital Work Better for Africa’s Development.”

President Mahama received a warm welcome at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport. Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Transport, Mr. Kone Amadou, greeted him.

He is accompanied by his Executive Secretary, Dr. Calistus Mahama. The Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Operations, Mr. Stan Dogbe, is also with him.

This year’s gathering will bring together African leaders and policymakers. They will discuss ways to mobilise and better use capital for development.

A major highlight will be electing a new President of the African Development Bank. Current President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina is concluding his second term. He cannot contest again, allowing for new leadership to guide the Bank's transformation.
