The producer inflation rate for March 2025 is now 24.4 percent. This is down from 27.6 percent in February 2025, according to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).
This decrease shows a slowdown in production prices for goods and services. The Producer Price Index (PPI) tracks changes in selling prices by domestic producers. Month-on-month inflation between February and March 2025 was 0.6 percent, lower than January's 1.5 percent.
In the industry sector, excluding construction, inflation dropped from 42.9 percent to 36.3 percent. In construction, the rate fell to 15.4 percent in March 2025. The Services sector recorded an inflation rate of 7.2 percent during this time.
The Industry sector remains the main driver of producer inflation at 36.3 percent year-on-year. This represents a decrease of 6.6 percentage points from February's rate, with a month-on-month change of 0.7 percent.
In Mining and Quarrying, industrial producer price inflation decreased by 9.2 percentage points to 35.4 percent from February's 44.6 percent. The Manufacturing sub-sector saw an increase of 2 percentage points to reach 22.8 percent in March.
Electricity and Gas recorded an inflation rate of 5.1 percent, down from February's rate of 9.7 percent by 4.6 percentage points. Water supply, sewerage, and waste management had an inflation rate of 4.8 percent.
For construction producer price inflation in March, the year-on-year rate was at 15.4 percent, down from February’s rate of 15.8 percent by just a small margin (0.4 percentage points). Month-on-month change between February and March was only up by about one-tenth of a percentage point.
Inflation for Construction of buildings decreased by 1.6 percentage points to reach14 .3percent in March from February’s figure of15 .9percent . Specialised Construction activities had an inflation rate of17 .9percent , slightly down from18 .5percent .
The Civil Engineering sub-sector maintained its inflation rate at15 .7percent for March2025 .
Services producer price inflation stands at7 .2percent , which is a decrease of0 .6percentage points compared to February’s7 .8percent , with a month-on-month change of0 .2percent .
Transport and Storage saw its inflation drop by2 .3percentage points to20 .4percent in March from22 .7percent in February2025 .
Accommodation and Food Services experienced a significant decline; it fell by6 .5percentage points from29 .1percent in February to22 .6percent in March2025 .
Lastly, the Information and Communication sub-sector recorded an inflation rate of4 .1percent during this period.
