Dr. Adu Anane Antwi, former Director-General of the SEC, has a message for James Klutse Avedzi. He urges Avedzi to focus on locked-up investor funds in the capital market.
Currently, over four billion cedis are trapped in defunct financial institutions. This situation is harming investor confidence significantly.
In an interview with Citi News, Dr. Anane expressed his trust in Avedzi's abilities. He stated that resolving the issue of locked funds is crucial.
"The major issue we have is the locked-up funds," he said. "This has eroded confidence in the market."
He noted that about GHC4 billion remains stuck in fund management. If this money returns to investors, they will reinvest it into the market.
Dr. Anane believes Avedzi should prioritize recovering this GHC4 billion. It is essential for restoring trust among investors and improving market conditions.
