In Q3 2024, the Greater Accra region accounted for 62.8% of the total value of secured loans granted by banks and Specialized Deposit-Taking Institutions (SDIs), marking a 12.9% decline from 75.7% in Q3 2023.

The Ashanti and Western regions followed with 19.2% and 4.8%, respectively, while the Oti and North East regions recorded the lowest shares at 0.02% and 0.01%.

The Quarterly Collateral Registry Brief attributes these variations to differing economic activity levels across regions. Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Western regions together represented over 80% of the secured loan value.

GCB Bank PLC led individual bank contributions with 16.4%, followed by Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (10.9%), Zenith Bank (8.1%), Ecobank Ghana (8.0%), and Guaranty Trust Bank (7.6%). UBA and NIB held the lowest shares at 0.6% and 0.3%, respectively.
