Senyo Hosi commends government’s tone amid 10% base salary increase

Economic Policy Analyst Senyo Hosi has praised the government's handling of negotiations over the recent 10% base salary increase for public sector workers, crediting a shift in tone and a collaborative approach for securing labor cooperation.

Speaking on TV3’s KeyPoints, Hosi noted the government's humble and measured style, contrasting it with past approaches, but cautioned that leaders must share in economic sacrifices to maintain public trust. This development comes amid growing scrutiny of government spending and fiscal discipline.

The wage increment, agreed with labor unions and set for January-December 2025, adjusts the daily minimum wage to GHS 19.97. This is the second salary revision in less than a year, following a 23% increase in 2024 aimed at easing rising living costs for public sector employees.
