Former Finance Minister Seth Terkper has been appointed the Presidential Advisor to the economy under the John Mahama-led administration.
Tasked with addressing Ghana’s fiscal challenges, Terkper will provide strategic counsel on budgetary policy, debt management, and economic recovery strategies.
His appointment comes amid economic challenges, including inflation, public debt, and currency depreciation.
Terkper will work closely with Finance Minister-designate Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson to implement key economic policies.
Drawing on his tenure as Finance Minister from 2013 to 2017, Terkper brings a wealth of experience, including his role in negotiating Ghana’s IMF Extended Credit Facility program and introducing the Energy Sector Levy Act (ESLA) to manage energy sector debt.
His advisory role underscores the government’s focus on leveraging expertise to foster growth, stabilize the economy, and boost investor confidence.
