Professor Ransford Gyampo, CEO of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), toured the Western Zone on February 17, 2025, to assess operations and engage stakeholders.
Welcomed by Zonal Manager Agnes Asamoah-Duku, he reaffirmed GSA’s commitment to protecting shippers' interests and enhancing Ghana’s position in global trade.
Key highlights included the upgrade of the Elubo Freight Park through a Public-Private Partnership, collaboration with the Border Operations and Security Committee (BOSEC), and addressing concerns raised by the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF) on parking and customs brokerage.
Customs officials stressed the need for a Confinement Bay and solutions to demurrage losses. Professor Gyampo emphasized regulatory enforcement, fair trade practices, and nationalism to strengthen Ghana’s maritime economy and ensure compliance with trade laws.
