The Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) is advancing Ghana’s coconut industry by focusing on value addition, sustainability, and regulatory reforms. A key initiative involves registering all value chain operators to create a structured development plan.
During a visit to KGV Foods Limited, a major dry coconut processor in the Western Region, TCDA’s CEO, Dr. Andy Osei-Okrah, emphasized the importance of regulations and stakeholder collaboration to boost income generation and job creation.
TCDA has also engaged with the Coconut Federation of Ghana (COCOFEG) to address industry challenges and promote sustainable growth. The Authority is working with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to provide high-quality seedlings and improve agro-farming practices.
KGV Foods Limited, known for value-added coconut products like virgin coconut oil and coconut chips, plans to expand operations to create more jobs. TCDA’s initiatives highlight a commitment to enhancing the coconut sector’s value chain, driving economic growth, and improving livelihoods across the region.
