Courage Kafui Nunekpeku – MD, TDC Ghana Limited
Mr. Courage Nunekpeku is the Managing Director of TDC Ghana Limited. He announced that the company will conduct property and land audits. This is to confirm initial findings about TDC’s lands.
Mr. Nunekpeku stated that TDC lost most of its land to the previous government. Therefore, an audit is necessary. “All our lands have been sold out,” he said. “Every land of TDC is sold out; commercial and residential are gone.”
He assessed the situation and found only 23 plots left at Community 24. The company will conduct a property audit to verify this information.
Preliminary checks revealed some allocated companies do not exist. During a staff meeting, he explained, “They sold everything, including reservations.” He mentioned that even union land called Ocean Park has been sold.
When Mr. Nunekpeku took office weeks ago, he presented TDC's land situation to the president. However, he could not find any available land. Instead, he discovered reserved lands given to companies like Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Volta Aluminum Company (VALCO).
He also noted that Kaiser Flats have been demolished by the company. Some spaces within Community One Site Three are still available.
As part of management plans, Mr. Nunekpeku aims to enhance the Site Three infilling project into a gated community. They plan to remove containers and squatters from the area for improvement.
Additionally, they intend to build two units of 15-storey buildings at Site Three. If successful, this model will be replicated at Kaiser Flats.
The stretch between Kingdom Books and the highway will also be developed into shops and offices for rent. Lastly, Mr. Nunekpeku mentioned plans for a 32-room pavilion clubhouse in Tema Community Six that has been abandoned for years.
He has contacted professionals, including architects, to explore remodeling options for it.
