The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has called on President John Dramani Mahama to revoke a directive annulling all public sector appointments made after December 7, 2024. The directive, issued by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, has led to mass terminations, affecting teachers, nurses, and other professionals.
TUC Secretary-General Joshua Ansah warned that the dismissals could have severe socio-economic consequences, damaging the morale of young professionals. The statement criticized the political inconsistency of both the NPP and NDC in handling public appointments.
TUC urged President Mahama to halt the dismissals and offer an amnesty, similar to his decision to retain security recruits from the previous administration. The move, TUC argues, would strengthen democracy and prevent partisan governance practices.
