Takoradi Port achieved significant growth in 2024, with total imported cargo reaching 2,877,273 metric tonnes by November, an 11.03% increase from 2023. This was primarily driven by clinker and gypsum imports.

Export cargo volume surged by 44% to 6,472,998 metric tonnes, led by manganese and bauxite exports. Transit cargo volumes saw a remarkable 2,173.52% growth, attributed to handling high-volume transit shipments like a 50,000-metric-tonne rice consignment.

Despite declines in Container Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) traffic (-11%) and vessel calls (-13.23%), the port marked milestones with YILPORT-ATSL's terminal operations and the Oil and Gas Services Terminal inauguration.

Looking ahead, 2025 initiatives include operationalizing the Prime Meridian Dock's Floating Dock Project, launching Genser Energy’s Cryonic Tank Farm, and developing a cruise-ship terminal to enhance tourism and maritime connectivity.
