Talent identification programme kicks off in Eastern Region this week

The GFA ETIP launched in the Eastern Region on May 12, 2025. This follows its successful start in Volta, Central, and Western regions. The program runs until May 18, 2025.

Currently, activities are taking place in Koforidua from May 12-14. After that, events will continue in Somanya from May 16-18.

The ETIP aims to educate Physical Education tutors and Colts football coaches. It also targets district coordinators and those interested in coaching techniques. The program includes seminars and football festivals for talent identification and development.

Basic school pupils will showcase their talents for junior national team selection. Papa Nii Lartey leads the GFA Elite Talent Identification Programme.

He stated that national teams would source players from this talent pool. A year ago, they were tasked with creating a framework for identifying top talents nationwide.

Competent coaches have been trained to scout players effectively. The goal is to recruit about 5,000 talents across the country.

Lartey emphasized that no talent should be overlooked. They plan to reach rural areas to find hidden talents for the GFA.

Scouts and coaches will collaborate with regional football associations. Their mission is to discover young footballers for national youth teams.

GFA President Kurt Edwin-Simeon Okraku confirmed full implementation of this structure across Ghana's districts and regions.

This initiative benefits both girls and boys equally. There are 15 zones for boys and five zones for girls in Greater Accra Region. Selected players will be organized into 20 districts based on their performance.
